About Japanese American Citizens League Omaha Chapter

The Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) is the oldest and largest Asian American civil rights organization in the United States. Our mission is to secure and maintain the civil rights of Japanese Americans and all others who are victimized by injustice and bigotry.

In the late 1940's, the charter for the activation of the Omaha chapter was issued at Salt Lake City, Utah, which was then the national headquarters of the JACL. The Omaha chapter began with a number of non-Japanese members as charter members.

Omaha was the 51st chapter in the JACL.
