About Vernon Japanese Cultural Society

The Vernon Japanese Cultural Society has been serving the community (originally as a Nōkai / Farmer's Association) for over 75 years.

The society offers Japanese classes through the heritage and language school. Annual special events include the Christmas Concert for Children, Autumn Bazaar, the Bon Odori and the Keirokai or Seniors' Dinner to honour elders in the Japanese-Canadian Community. The Japanese hall acts as a meeting place for the Vernon Buddhist Temple group/Buddhist Daruma School, Vernon Judo Club, Odori (Japanese dance), ikebana, eigakai movie club and Fujinkai (Japanese Women's Auxiliary).
